He is known to audiences worldwide for his performances and numerous recordings with such artists as Dewey Redman, Lee Konitz, Sheila Jordan and Cecil McBee.

Joel Frahm was a semi-finalist in the 1996 Thelonious Monk competition and during the last two years, he has been selected to perform in Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead showcase for young musicians He has performed with Brad Mehldau, Roy Hargrove and Larry Goldings, among others.
